CCC Appoints New Executive Director
Paramaribo, 24th March 2026 – The CARICOM Competition Commission (Commission) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Troy Waterman as its new Executive Director, effective 1st March 2026.
Dr. Waterman brings to the Commission extensive experience in competition law enforcement and economic analysis, developed over a distinguished career spanning 15 years, at the Barbados Fair Trading Commission. Over the course of his tenure, he served in several key roles, progressing from Economist to Director of the Fair Competition Division. In this capacity, he was instrumental in advancing competition enforcement, leading complex investigations, and strengthening institutional frameworks to promote fair and competitive markets. He was also the Chairman of the Reconvened Task Force on Revisions to Chapter VII of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas. This Task Force is responsible for exploring mechanisms to strengthen the institutional, technical and legislative capacity of the competition regime in the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).
Dr. Waterman’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for the Commission as it continues to deepen its work in safeguarding competition across the CSME. His expertise and leadership are expected to further enhance the Commission’s capacity to address anti-competitive practices, support Member States, and promote a culture of competition throughout the region.
In accepting the appointment, Dr. Waterman expressed his commitment to ensuring that the Commission successfully fulfils its duties and obligates as articulated under the Revised Treaty. He emphasised the importance of working closely with the Board and professional staff at the CCC; and collaborating with Member States, national competition authorities, and international partners in ensuring effective enforcement and policy development.
The Commission looks forward to Dr. Waterman’s leadership as it continues to fulfil its mandate of promoting and maintaining competition and enhancing economic efficiency across the Community.
