The Caribbean Competition Commission (CCC) is participating in a study tour aimed at strengthening
collaboration with key antitrust agencies in the United States. Supported by funding from the 11th European
Development Fund, this study tour represents a pivotal endeavour in fostering closer ties between
competition authorities in CARICOM and their U.S. counterparts.

Hosted by the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission,
the study tour will take place in Washington, D.C. Its primary objective is to facilitate discussions on
fundamental concepts and methodologies employed in the investigation and prosecution of antitrust
violations or competition restrictions. Through the exchange of knowledge and experiences, the CCC and
the national competition authorities aspire to bolster their enforcement capabilities and promote fair
competition within regional product markets.

Spanning four days from 15-18 April 2024, the itinerary will feature multiple sessions each day, covering
various facets of antitrust enforcement. Representatives from the CCC will be accompanied by
counterparts from the Barbados Fair Trading Commission, the Jamaica Fair Trading Commission, the
Trinidad and Tobago Fair Trading Commission, and the Ministry of Trade in Belize. Together, they constitute a
formidable CARICOM contingent dedicated to advancing antitrust objectives within the region.
Preceding the study tour, the representatives are slated to participate in the 72nd American Bar
Association’s Antitrust Spring Meeting from 10-12 April 2024. This preliminary engagement promises
valuable insights and networking opportunities, laying the groundwork for substantive discussions during the
ensuing study tour.

enforcement intricacies, the exchange of best practices, and the cultivation of enduring cross-border
