National Competition Authorities

A National Competition Authority is a government agency or institution responsible for promoting and enforcing competition laws within a country.

National Consumer Protection Authorities

A National Consumer Protection Authority is a government body tasked with safeguarding consumer rights and interests. It enforces consumer protection laws, addresses unfair trade practices, monitors product safety standards, and resolves consumer disputes.

Member States

CARICOM Member States are full participants in CARICOM, with voting rights, decision-making power, and obligations under CARICOM agreements. They contribute to regional governance and implement CARICOM policies on trade, economic integration, and competition. They contribute to regional governance and implement CARICOM policies on political, social, and economic integration including competition and consumer protection.

Associate Members

In contrast, Associate Members are mainly British Overseas Territories that engage with CARICOM but do not have voting rights or participate in the CSME. While they benefit from regional cooperation initiatives, they are not bound by the same commitments as full members.

CARIFORUM

CARIFORUM, which is a subgroup of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States, was established in 1992 to serve as base for economic and trade dialogue between its members and the European Union. CARIFORUM comprises the 15 CARICOM Member States and the Dominican Republic.
